How to Connect Airtable to Quill
Airtable can be anything to anyone; a personal CRM, a project tracker, a tea journal, you name it. When you connect it to Quill, Quill actually takes the time to explore your specific Airtable setup so it understands how you use it. That means Quill's recommendations and actions are tailored to your data, not just a generic idea of what Airtable is for.
This guide walks you through connecting Airtable, how Quill explores your base, and what you can do once they're linked up.
What You'll Need
- A Quill Pro subscription (MCP integrations require Pro).
- An Airtable account with at least one base you want to connect.
Step 1: Open Integrations Settings
Go to Settings > Integrations & MCPs and find Airtable in the server library. Click on it to begin setup.
Step 2: Create a Personal Access Token in Airtable
Quill needs a personal access token to connect to your Airtable. When you click the link in Quill's setup screen, it takes you to Airtable's token creation page.
- Click to create a new token and give it a name (something like "Quill" or "Quill Integration").
- Add the scopes your token needs. At minimum, you'll want:
- Read records and Write records — so Quill can look up and add data.
- Add comments — so Quill can leave notes on records.
- Read schema — this helps Quill understand the structure of your database.
- Select the specific base you want Quill to access (for example, your Personal CRM base).
- Create the token and copy it.
Step 3: Paste the Token and Connect
Back in Quill's Airtable setup screen, paste your personal access token and click Connect.
Step 4: Let Quill Explore Your Airtable
Once connected, Quill starts exploring your Airtable. This takes about three to four minutes. During this exploration, Quill looks at your tables, fields, and data structure to understand how you've set things up.
When it's done, Quill saves notes about your Airtable — for example, it might note that your base is a personal CRM, list the key tables, and identify useful lookup patterns. This exploration only happens once. Quill doesn't need to re-explore every time it interacts with your Airtable.
You can start using the integration even while Quill is still exploring.
Using Airtable with Quill
Once connected, Quill understands your Airtable and can use it in context during and after meetings.
Search Your Airtable
Ask Quilliam questions about your Airtable data. For example, if your Airtable is a personal CRM, you could ask "Who did I last see in Airtable?" and Quilliam will look up the answer — returning details like the contact's name, when you last met, their location, and any tags or notes on the record.
Smart Recommendations After Meetings
After a meeting, Quill may recommend actions based on what was discussed and what it knows about your connected integrations. For example, if you mention visiting a specific city in a meeting and Quill knows your personal CRM has location data on contacts, it can suggest looking up who you know in that area.
These recommendations show up automatically; you just click to run them.
Drafting Follow-Ups
When Quill surfaces relevant contacts from your Airtable, it can offer to draft emails to those people. Just confirm and Quilliam will start composing.
Tailored to Your Setup
The key thing about how Quill works with Airtable is that it learns your specific setup. If you use Airtable as a personal CRM with location tags on contacts, Quill picks up on that. If someone else uses Airtable to track inventory, Quill would learn that structure instead. The integration adapts to however you've built your base.
This also means that as you connect more integrations, Quill learns how to use each one in the way that makes sense for your workflow.
